Boys on Film: Wrecked

WreckedWrecked (2009) is an edgy drama about a gay teen’s tumultuous decent into drugs and anonymous sex, Wrecked smashes cinematic taboos while it spins its cautionary tale. Ryan is an earnest 18-year-old trying to develop a career as an actor and getting his life on the right track. This course is quickly threatened with the sudden arrival of his sort-of ex, Daniel, who arrives at Ryan’s door wanting a place to stay and offering the promise of a normal, loving relationship. But Daniel’s drug addiction and attitude towards casual sex derail any hope for normalcy and soon ensnares Ryan in his own downward spiral. Handheld cameras, a hot young cast and a boldly upfront approach to sex combine to make Wrecked a unique film experience.

Boys on Film: Beautiful Thing

Beautiful Thing DVDBeautiful Thing is a heartwarming story of two young men coming to grips with their sexuality and the effect it has on the people in their lives.

Awful plot descriptions aside (seriously, I couldn’t find a good one), Beautiful Thing is an amazing film that everyone must see. This screen adaptation of the play was initially intended for television broadcast in the UK but was so well-received that it was released in cinemas. It remains as one of the most highly rated gay films ever. [Read Reviews]

The following video is a touching clip from the movie.

Boys on Film: Charlie Bartlett

Charlie Bartlett DVDCharlie Bartlett was one of the most underrated movies of 2008 which is why it’s the first pick for Boys on Film. I’m also a big fan of actor Anton Yelchin who plays Charlie.

This coming-of-age comedy about a wealthy public school system newcomer (Yelchin) who wins over his skeptical classmates by serving as a surrogate psychiatrist to the troubled student body.”

You can purchase Charlie Bartlett and other related movies in the new Boys on Film Store. You can also find the adorable Anton Yelchin in these movies.

Boys on Film: an introduction

Hey everyone,

I’m introducing a new weekly feature here at So Many Boys called Boys on Film.
It will feature a popular movie every week or so. The movies will all be posted for a reason of course. They will all be gay films, coming of age movies, or movies featuring cute stars in general.

Here is preview of the DVD store that will accompany it. There will be much more to come! All titles on the main page are hand picked by me and will be featured on the blog at some point. Feel free to suggest a title you want to see in the store or on the blog even if it’s already in the store and I will put them at the top of the list.
